A quick sampling at a bargain price in Napa, Sonoma and San Francisco

A quick sampling at a bargain price in Napa, Sonoma and San Francisco

One grape vine yields four to six bottles of wine every year, and each glass of wine is the product of half a pound of grapes, according to the Napa Valley Visitors Information website. Check out the grapes firsthand – especially if you are seeking a starter tour of Northern California’s wine country – with a package that gives you a night in San Francisco and a daylong bus tour stopping at three wineries.

The deal: The Napa and Sonoma Wine-Tasting Package listed on the Visit California website includes a night’s stay at the Westin San Francisco Market Street and a daylong Extranomical Adventures tour to wine country. The bus leaves downtown San Francisco at 8 a.m. and stops at three wineries starting in the Sonoma Valley and continuing to Napa Valley in the afternoon.

Lunch and wine-tasting fees are not included in the price. A sampling of wineries that may be on the itinerary include Madonna Estate, V. Sattui Winery, Sutter Home Winery, Valley of the Moon, Loxton Wines and Cline Cellars.

Tested: This deal holds the best value for two, so maybe you want to take Mom along for her special day. I went online and found a reservation for Mother’s Day weekend (May 8 and 9), and there was still availability for a room (traditional king or two queen-sized beds) and the wine country tour for two for $365.06,including taxes and fees.

Contact: Visit California (navigate to “packages” for San Francisco to find this deal), (877) 225-4367
