You will want a Hawaii hotel that has affordable rates. After all, why pay more than you need to? When you save money on a hotel, you can spend your money to improve other important parts of your Hawaii vacation, such as your entertainment. When looking for the best hotel deals, examine online travel websites, as they easily let you compare rates.
Next, it is important to examine location. Which Hawaiian Island are you visiting? If you will be staying on Big Island, you will want to search for Big Island hotels and so forth. For that reason, examine hotels that are located near what you want to do and see, like the beach or the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, should you choose to visit Big Island.

With that said, be sure you are provided with onsite services that you need or can benefit from gaining access to.

For example, some Hawaii hotels have onsite swimming pools, fitness centers, restaurants, salons, volleyball nets, or tennis courts. Even if you plan to spend most of your vacation out exploring Hawaii, it is still a good idea to choose a Hawaii hotel that has attractive features and services. Due to the warm climate, many travelers consider a hotel with a pool a must.
When looking for a Hawaii hotel, comfort is also important examine. You will want to stay in a hotel that you feel at home in. That is why pictures should be examined. Do you actually like the hotel? If not, you should move on. Many hotel websites and online travel websites have pictures of the hotel and hotel rooms posted; be sure to examine them.
Although optional, you will want to closely examine beachfront Hawaii hotels. Many travelers recommend staying along the coast, it is gives you that true Hawaii experience. You also gain easy access to the ocean, which is nice if you are looking to enjoy a few beach activities, like swimming, snorkeling, or body boarding.
The above mentioned points are just a few of the many that you will want to keep in mind. As a reminder, even if you intend to spend time away from your hotel, it is still nice to have a comfortable and beautiful hotel to come back to after a day filled with fun and excitement.

India has countless festivals that attract tourists with colour and noise. Here are some tips for witnessing and attending India’s festival celebrations.
One of the most famous of India’s festivals is Diwali, the festival of lights. It could just as well be called the festival of noise. This event, between mid-October and mid-November, celebrates the return of the Hindu god Rama from his exile and his victory over the evil King Ravana. Oils lamps are lit to show Rama the way home. The goddess of wealth, Lakshmi, is also celebrated.
Diwali lasts five days and is mainly celebrated by setting off millions of incredibly loud firecrackers. Festivals in India
Dasara (Dussehra) Or Durga Puja
Durga is the fierce Hindu goddess who slayed the evil demon Mahisashura. The Durga Puja festival celebrates her victory every year around October.
Celebrations are especially triumphant in the South Indian city of Mysore, where the festival is known as Dasara (Dussehra) and Durga is known by the name Chamundeswari. During the ten days of Dasara there are daily concerts, performances and other events, and the festival highlight is a parade that includes elephants trained specifically for this occasion. The parade usually attracts a crowd of millions to the streets of Mysore.
Those who don’t like large crowds should stay at home and watch the show on TV instead, and lone females may feel very uncomfortable in a large festival crowd.
Holi, Or Getting Doused In Colour
Holi is celebrated at the end of winter, and is usually much more lively in North India than in the South, although holidaymakers in beach resorts such as Goa usually get their share of the Holi experience. During Holi, usually celebrated in March, colourful powder, or a mix of colourful dye and water, is thrown liberally at any unsuspecting passer-by. Crowds of young men and boys are happy to douse each other and especially passing tourists in colour.
Unfortunately, the colours used during Holi are often far from natural and are definitely not allergy tested, and tourists have complained about skin reactions or worse. Holi is also celebrated with a lot of alcohol and bhang (marijuana), and female tourists especially should think twice before venturing out alone. Those who want to experience Holi should wear something old that can be thrown away after being covered in all colours of the rainbow. India Tours
Ganesh Chaturthi Or Ganesh’s Birthday
The elephant-headed god Ganesh, the remover of obstacles, is one of India’s most loved gods. The Ganesh Chaturthi is the birthday of Ganesh and is celebrated in August and/or September. During the ten-day festival, giant clay statues of Ganesh are installed inside homes and out on the streets. The statues are worshipped for ten days, and on the eleventh day they are carried through the streets and immersed in a river or in the sea. Many tourists witness the celebrations in Mumbai, where figures of Ganesh are carried through the city in large processions to the sea. India Tour Packages
Kerala’s famous backwater is a tourist’s delight and Kerala tour is incomplete without a night stay in the traditional Kerala houseboats.
Places to Visit in South India should make a point of stopping in Kerala, and in Kerala, one absolute must-see is the Kerala backwater. Aptly named God’s Own country, Kerala boosts of over 900 kilometers of waterways consisting of network of canals, rivers, lakes and inlets of the Arabian Sea running through almost the length of the state.
One of the most amazing features of the Kerala backwater is the integral part it plays in the day-to-day life of Keralians. Mostly fed by Soft Water Rivers and lakes, it dissects the villages and can truly be termed the lifeline of Kerala. Be it for transportation, fishing, daily chores, and commercial interactions or just enjoying the serene beauty of the blue sky meeting the water in the horizon, the backwaters provide a perfect backdrop for the locals as well as the tourists looking for a weekend getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city life.
The Houseboats In Kerala
A trip to Kerala is incomplete without spending a night at the houseboats. The houseboats are a perfect combination of luxury and adventure. Well-furnished secured rooms with all modern amenities like air conditioners, refrigerators, and compact attached baths, the hous boats are never short of comfort. In unison, unlike other houseboats, these boats are not stationary. They take the travelers through the meandering routes amidst the picturesque villages. Spending the night under the starry sky, unwinding with fresh coconut water, enjoying the “catch of the day” from the passing by fishermen; this promises to be an experience of the lifetime.
Inside a Kerala Houseboat
There are different styles of houseboats available, based on the number of guests traveling. Houseboats with single to three bedrooms with comfortable inviting double beds, attached bathrooms, reading tables etc are available, with AC or without AC as required. For larger groups, there are also conference halls available on the first floor, which is an ideal place to conduct business dealings amidst the tranquility of the nature. India Tour Operator
Each houseboat has its own modular kitchen and personal chef to cater guests with sumptuous authentic south Indian delicacies. The chefs are well trained to please the palate of every gourmet. The kitchen is at the back of the houseboats, and a passage from there leads to the dining-cum-living area in the front of the boat. It is perhaps the most exquisite part of the boat, where unrestricted views allow travelers to feast on the serenity of the clear blue sky meeting the equally transparent water at a distance. The sailor is perched almost at the tip of the house boat, making the way with unassuming familiarity through the maze of waterways, which is very likely to confuse first timers due to its shear vastness.
What to do In A Houseboat?
The best thing to do is to get lost in the enormity of mother earth, and enjoy the different forms of life which keep popping up now and then. The houseboats provide cozy couches in abundance, even hanging swings for newlyweds to sway in perfect harmony and also benches along the edges of the boat. Sitting there, one can enjoy the green countryside, swaying palm and coconut trees, the emerald green rice fields, the long stretches of banana gardens and children waving from the banks of the backwaters of Kerala.
Occasionally one can see the remains of a broken tree right in the middle of the water. Chirping birds sail over the boats, suddenly stooping down in a flash to catch fish from the water. Often the sound of church bells break the silence as the boat passes through a local village, reminding travelers of the humanity dwellings in close proximity.
For adventure lovers, the houseboats provide fishing rods and bait. Evenings are the best time to relax and rejuvenate. As the sun sets, flocks of birds make their way home against the backdrop of orange sky. As darkness sets in, the boats anchor and prepare for a well deserved rest at night. For guests from the cities, the houseboat has televisions to keep them connected with the world, but given the unique milieu one will always prefer to enjoy a starry night sky, the chirp of the crickets all around, and the sound of the water splashing at the sides of the boat creating a mystical environment.
Houseboat Package Tours
There are umpteen different kinds of tours to choose from. Ranging from budget tours, which cost around $125 per couple per night (inclusive of food), to well above $250 per couple per night (inclusive of food), based on the mode of comfort and luxury the tourist chooses. There are even Special Honeymoon Packages available with different tour operators, spreading over two nights and three days, which can be a perfect beginning to a new life.

Jodhpur, Rajasthan’s second largest city, has long been a popular destination with international tourists. Few, though, know the origins of it’s tag, “the blue city”.
The city is a wonderful example of vivid colours providing a photogenic backdrop to everyday life. One colour, above all others, impresses visitors to Jodhpur Holidays; blue. The colour is closely associated with the city’s identity and Jodhpur carries the well-known sobriquet of “the blue city”.
Jodhpur – A City of Bustling Bazaars
But upon arrival in Jodhpur visitors may well be tempted to ask why the bustling city has that tag. So many other colours can also be seen on the busy streets and in the bazaars. The majority of Rajasthani women wear long, colourful skirts as they visit the shops of the Nai Sadak and while examining wares on the stalls of the Sardar Market. Eye-catching, bright oranges and yellows are popular colours for their fabrics. And the Rajasthan tourism tradition for women to cover their heads with scarves – in materials of complementary hues – adds to the impression that life takes place among a vivid swirl of colour.
That’s exacerbated by the men wearing sizable turbans. The yellows and reds of their traditional tribal headgear is as much a draw to the eye as the women’s garments.
The Blue City – Jodhpur’s Old Town
Yet to gain an understanding as to why Jodhpur is known as “the blue city” one has to push on from the market places and away from the new town, and head into the older quarters of Jodhpur. Here, under the centuries old protection of Meherangarh Fort, whose foundations were laid on the orders of the city’s founder, Rao Jodha, in 1459, many of the houses are blue in colour.
The walls of the old town’s buildings explain why Jodhpur is tagged as “the blue city” but even experienced tour guides cannot agree on the underlying reason as to why that colour was chosen. Agra Holidays
Some say that blue is associated closely with Brahmins, India’s priestly caste, and that the blue houses of the old city belong to families of that caste. As a consequence, they are frequently called “Brahmin Houses”.
Did the Blue Repel Termites?
Dissenters argue that termites are the real reason. Proponents of this argument believe that, historically, termites caused significant structural damage to a large number of the buildings of Jodhpur. The termites are said to have munched their way into the walls of dwellings and businesses. The residents repelled them and discouraged further damage by adding chemicals, such as copper sulphate, to their standard whitewash.
Those who believe in the termite theory say that it is mere coincidence that many of the blue houses are owned by Brahmins, and that there are numerous families from other castes who also live in blue-painted homes. They even rubbish the theory that chemical compounds are added to the whitewash, swearing that Jodhpur is a fine example of an environmentally-friendly city. Nothing but indigo, a natural dye, is the cause of the blue tint, they say. Jaipur City Guide
So while there may be no way of establishing the root cause as to why the houses are blue, strolling through the streets of the old city enables visitors to peek into the homes. Many of the doorways remain open, allowing an insight into moments of everyday Rajasthani family life.
Viewing the Blue City From Meherangarh Fort
But for an overview of Jodhpur, and the blue houses of the old town, nothing beats the view from Meherangarh Fort. A winding lane leads up the 125 metre high hill, upon which the ancient fortress is built. The walls are 36 metre high in places, providing additional elevation to appreciate just how many of the houses in Jodhpur are blue.
Not all cities deserve their sobriquets, but anyone looking out over the flat roofs of Jodhpur, from the perspective of the Meherangarh will realise that the term “the blue city” is indeed apt, whatever the true reason behind the prevalence of that colour.
