Tourists Can See Dublin’s Viking Heritage

Dublin City is the capital of Ireland. It is also one of the country’s oldest cities. There was a settlement in the area from the time before Christ but it generally accepted by historians that it was the Vikings who established the settlement in the mid ninth century.

It continued under Viking rule until after the Battle of Clontarf in 1014. The domination of the Vikings grew less and less from then on.

Some of them settled around our coasts and constructed settlements and towns in numerous locations.
Dublin, at the mouth of the River Liffey was one of their biggest and most important settlements.
